About Mark Cropley

Dr Mark Cropley is a Chartered Psychologist, and Professor of Health Psychology at the University of Surrey, UK. He conducts research in the areas of stress & health, and he is particularly interested in how people unwind and recover from the effects of work during their leisure time.

In 2008 he organised the first international workshop on ‘Recovery from Work’. The event attracted academics from across Europe and the USA. Professor Cropley is the author of the popular self-help book ‘The Off Switch’ (published by Penguin).

This provides evidence-based techniques to provide a complete guide for how to switch off from work during free time but still get more done.

He has worked with a number of occupational groups and organisations including, the petrochemical industry, management consultancies, the police, the NHS, school teachers, pharmaceutical, wellness and fitness industries.
